Distilling activity was taking place in the area around Glenfarclas, on the foothills of Ben Rinnes, since at least 1790’s. In fact, George Grant, the 6th generation of the Grant dynasty who own Glenfarclas, has a painting from that time to prove it! George’s great-great-great-granfather, John Grant, and his son, George Grant, bought the distillery in 1865 for £511.19s.
Since then there has been a steady succession of John’s and George’s in the family, who have carefully built upon the Glenfarclas legacy, right down to the current owner, John Grant, and his son… George.
Over the quarter century that Glenfarclas 25 spends in cask, nearly half of the contents have been lost to evaporation.
