In 1987, Thomas E. Bulleit, Jr., fulfilled a lifelong dream of reviving an old family bourbon recipe by starting the Bulleit Distilling Company. Now with a new distillery in Shelbyville, Kentucky, for the time being the spirit is sourced from other distilleries. The spirit in a Bulleit Rye bottle is made from a mash of 95% rye (one of the highest rye percentages in the industry) and is sourced a big distillery in Indiana owned by Midwestern Grain Products. High rye means more spice and less sweetness in the finished product.
